Step 1 Activate one of the Adobe InDesign Frame tools: rectangular, elliptical or polygonal. Click and drag on a document page to draw the frame into which you'll place your image. Step 2 Open the "File" menu and choose "Place." Navigate to the location of the image file you want to add into the frame you drew. Click on the name of your image file in the list. Click on the "Open" button to place your graphic. Step 3 Open the "Window" menu and choose "Links" to bring up the Links panel. The name of your image file appears in the list of links, along with the page number on which the graphic appears. Step 4 Open the fly-out menu at the top right corner of the "Links" panel to access a long list of options you can apply to your linked image. Inapplicable options appear grayed out. Use this menu to substitute a different image file in an individual picture frame, get information about your linked file, embed a file in your document or change the way the Links panel displays its information. read less

Either you create shape or activate any other menus. You can just press CTRL+D>Browse the required image>Open>Place it in your working document according to your requirement.
