Here is an excerpt from the interview with Seema K, an IELTS Trainer from Gurgaon: Q1. When did you start as an IELTS Trainer? Ans. I started my career as an IELTS trainer in the year 2014. Q2. What skills are required to become an IELTS Trainer? Ans. Besides being a Subject Matter Expert, one also needs empathy to be able to relate to the pain areas of students. As an IELTS trainer, I sometimes need to work as a Counsellor as well and guide my students to keep realistic aspirations and not to lose their heart and focus, in case their initial attempts do not bear expected results. Q3. What do you think makes you stand out from other IELTS Trainers on UrbanPro.com? Ans. Since I provide personalised coaching, it gives me an edge regarding assessing the strengths and improvement areas of the candidate. Based on that assessment, I work on the customised solution which is far more effective than the cookie-cutter approach. Being an engineer who had worked in MNCs, it helps in relating to the job realities and work environment of my students who are mostly from the corporate background. What was the turning point in your career? Ans. I had an active career in which I had worked with various Indian and foreign companies. However, with my kids growing up, I was actively seeking an alternate career option which could provide me with an opportunity to work as per my pace. In the meanwhile, the department I was working with was relocating to another city. I had two options -- Relocate or Move on. On the hindsight, that decision of moving on from the Corporate job and setting up my venture was the turning point of my career. Since then every day, I have thanked God for giving me the wisdom and courage to pursue my dreams and utilise my skills for helping students achieve their dreams and goals. Q6.
