Anindya was working as an IT professional in the past before taking up tutoring as a full-time profession. Now he invests his time training students and conducting workshops for them once every week. 1. When and how did you start as a Spoken English Trainer?
Ans: I found my calling in training while I was working as an IT professional. I found that student interactions gave me a kind of satisfaction that no other activity could provide. The passion for training grew over a period and about 7 years back I quit the industry to become a trainer. I provide training for Spoken English, Communications skills and exam prep courses like IELTS, PTE and TOEFL.
2. What skills are required to become a Spoken English Trainer?
Ans: I work with adults most times - As a trainer, one should be a good listener and understand the needs of the students/participants. An effective trainer should be willing to be a co-learner.
3. What do you think makes you stand out from other Spoken English Trainers on UrbanPro.com?
Ans: My sessions are effective because I use collaborative methods of learning where the learning happens automatically and with minimal efforts. Online training tools have opened up a whole world of opportunities for trainers like me to involve the participants in collaborative learning. Where the learning actually extends beyond the online sessions.
4. How did you come across UrbanPro.com?
Ans: I have been with UrbanPro since September 2016. I don’t remember exactly how I came across UrbanPro but most likely it must have been through some online search as I have been an online citizen for a long time.
5. What was the turning point in your career?
Ans: To think of it I was actually presenting at one of the country's top engineering institutes to a set of Professors - People who taught the best Engineers in India. My presentation was about a solution to a problem that they were trying to solve for many years but due to various reasons, they were unable to address it. At the end of my presentation not only was my presentation appreciated but the most senior member pointed out that I was a good teacher.
I was already inclining towards training by then and that was probably the moment when I decided that I would become a trainer rather than stay an IT professional.
