Here is an excerpt of the interview with Ishita: Q1. When and how you started as a Classical Dance Trainer? Ans. My journey in the world of dance began at a very young age with the inspiration of my parents. With each passing day, I started to get more and more immersed in the essence and beauty of dance but even then I never thought this passion of mine could ever become my profession. Life had something else planned for me, I was blessed to receive tutelage from Guru Nandini Ghosal and fell in love with the beautiful Odissi classical dance form. While learning from her, I realized for the first time that my passion has became an integral part of my life, and I would miss LIFE itself if I chose not to pursue it further. I started teaching classical dance while I was doing my Master’s in Odissi classical dance from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Dance for me is more than a profession, it’s a devotion, a sanctuary for inner peace & happiness. And I love to impart this beautiful art form to my students through my work, my teaching.

Q2. What skills are required to become a Classical Dance Trainer? Ans. I feel discipline, dedication, devotion and patience are the foremost skills or qualities needed to be a classical dance trainer. A good classical dance trainer should be able to inspire and motivate students. Instill confidence in them and through dance impart them valuable lessons of life as well. Q3.
