I don't think that it is good to buy online because purchasing an instrument is all about sound and tone and you can't check sound online. One more fact is tone of two instrument of same model could be different. Just go to showroom and check multiple items and buy that one which would give you the best...

It's completely alright to buy online but the thing is u have to buy only after checking the particular guitar in physical I mean go to shop select one well known brand(Clayton,fender,etc) and check the sound there and remember the model type and just buy it online....But most importantly buy it if u r getting a long return policy....ideal is minimum of 30 day return policy....coz u never know what happens to ur guitar in transit...it's a 50-50 quote to buy it.....but I prefer to go to shop....
