Learning guitar on your own is possible, but it may take years to fully understand music. If you have a good foundation in music, you can learn guitar faster. However, it is recommended to have a good teacher or at least a knowledgeable friend to guide you and provide feedback. Online lessons and discussion forums can also be helpful, but it's important to be able to identify and correct your mistakes. Learning is a continuous process, and while you may not stick with one teacher forever, it's essential to have a good one in the beginning. After that, you can learn from other musicians for free, such as drummers, bassists, keyboard players, and even beginner guitarists. To avoid overwhelming yourself, focus on only one or two lessons per week and spend more time practicing than watching videos or reading articles.

Is it worth spending 2000 per month for a private guitar tuitor,  the teacher claims he will teach me ear training also? Please reply asap, thanks

Well, if you are confident that you can learn then go for it, music is not cheap so you have to pay. Ear training is not an option to teach, a music teacher must need to teach along with the sight reading.
