Alok Pathak

My name is Alok Pathak. I did my PhD in French language and literature from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Singrauli, coal-rich district of Madhya Pradesh is my birthplace. Due to the presence of thermal power plants, this region has always attracted people from all corners of the country. It is a melting pot of cultures and languages. Therefore, since my childhood, I have been introduced to a plethora of languages. My curiosity about understanding and learning new languages grew further in school and later in the university when I took admission to the School of Languages, Jawaharlal Nehru University. After completing Bachelors and Masters in the French language, I wanted to know more about the intricacy of the language and its literature. Hence I embarked on the journey of doing PhD in contemporary French literature. Along with learning, I started teaching school kids to earn money and share my knowledge of French. In the first year of my PhD, I got the opportunity to teach French to undergraduate students (B.A 2nd and 3rd years) in JNU as a French teaching assistant and as a guest faculty in Delhi University. I also topped the UGC Net exam, an essential criterion to become an Assistant Professor in French.

During my research work, I was offered two international scholarships, one by the Wallonie Brussels Federation, Belgium in 2014 to attend a summer school in the European capital, Brussels and the other by the French Institute in India in the year 2019 to study at the most prestigious École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France. This allowed me to have an in-depth knowledge of the present day French language.

Apart from the French language, I love doing theatre and making French vlogs.
