What is meaning of S, P, D, F in Chemistry?

s,p,d,f are the subshells or orbitals of elements.But ,not all elements have those orbitals ,a few elements have s orbitals only(H,He),few have s and p orbitals,few have s,p,d ,few have s,p,d,f orbitals

Which is the best Book for I PUC for Karnataka Board in Science Stream to score Excellent marks? If any body could help me with that way I could be glad to you. I need to purchase the books immediately so people please reply as soon as possible. I want your suggestions for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics book. So, that even I can prepare simultaneously for entrance exams.

For physics h.c .verma and coming to chemistry depending on your interest you can purchase NCERT book or go for o.p tandon (seperate inorganic,organic&physical chemistry books)
