Lord Curzon was the viceroy of India associated with a partition of Bengal. The Government favoured the partition of Bengal that was initiated by the British mainly due to administrative convenience As Bengal was a too large provision to be efficiently administered.
But the actual motive behind the partition was due to political and economic reasons. For the British, the Expansion of Assam was necessary to stabilize their financial condition while the political cause was to stem the nationality of Bengalis.
