Joseph Abraham

I am a medical graduate and done M.Sc in medical anatomy from Amrita Institute of
medical sciences, Cochin for which the topic of my study was surface anatomy of the
human liver. Title of my thesis was surface anatomy of the liver and its clinical
implications. Wanting to extend my ability to pose questions and find answers to them in
a more effective manner, I joined the Department of Anatomy at the department of
anatomy, GMCH, Chandigarh, India. There I started work with various projects in the
fetal liver, with Professor Dr.Kanchan Kapoor using the stereo zoom microscope. I had
been working on the histogenesis of developing human liver. I had also done the fetal
autopsy and we had come across many syndromes. With Dr.anupriya, We could extract
DNA from fetuses (done in PGI, Chandigarh) and tried to find out gene associated with
different diseases.
I have been doing the following responsibilities and discharge effectively:
Fetal autopsy
DNA Extraction
Gel Electrophoresis
·Prepare and deliver lectures to doctor of medicine students
·Prepare and deliver lectures to Paediatric and Neonatal Speciality students.
·Prepare and deliver lectures to health officer students
·Prepare and deliver lectures to surgical Speciality students
·Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with
colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
·Prepare course materials like syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
·Supervise student’s clinical skill and skill lab work, dissections
·Evaluate and grade students class work, skill lab, clinical practice, assignments, and
papers.
·Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of
instruction.
·Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
·Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise assist students.
·Supervise teaching, internship, and research work..
·Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies,
departmental matters, and academic issues.
·Select and obtain materials and supplies like textbooks laboratory equipment.
