One of the most important questions asked during an interview is, "Tell us about yourself".
So my first lesson to all my students is to "How to Introduce yourself".
How to Introduce yourself:
Most Maharashtrians or Bengalis introduce themselves with, "Myself Suryanand Karve".
"Myself" is a PRONOUN
used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself as the object of a verb or preposition when he or she is the subject of the clause.
"I hurt myself by accident".
I or me personally (used to emphasize the speaker).
"I myself am unsure how this problem should be handled" · literary
used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself; I.
"Myself presented to him a bronze sword"
Therefore to use "myself" before one's name is a misuse of the pronoun.
Therefore the best way to introduce oneself, one says, "My name is Suryanand Karve" or "I am Suryanand Karve".
But having mentioned your name is not enough.
One has to mention what your father is doing or your mother is doing. It would be enough to say that you have 'x' number of brothers and 'Y' number of sisters. You need not go into details about what they are doing.
You move on to mention where you stay.
You then, mention your education and sports interests if any and, or, hobbies if any.
Finally, you mentioned the companies that you have worked for, from the most recent to the first company, detailing dates and period of work, and the duties that you were involved in, in each of these companies.
That is all for this lesson. More lessons follow when we begin classes.
