How do I get started with R?

Its better to take a beginer course offline or online for R programming, once you build the base you will be able to do the advanced analysis simply by online tutorials.

Should I learn R or Python if I intend to be a Data Scientist?

It is not compulsary to learn python and R to become a data scientist. But these are the most popular programming softwares for data science. The advantage of popular open source softwares is that lot of help will be available freely.

What skill sets are required for data analysis?

Basic software skills are required, plus a strong reading on the theoretical part. Initially read the concepts of statistical analysis followed by modeling and training on softwares like SPSS and Minitab. After that move on to programming like R and Python.

What are the simple ways to learn statistics for data analysis?

I would like to suggest a book "An Introduction to Statistical Learning" Published by Springer. It provides practical information from the basic level related to data analysis starting from regression modeling. Also, this book has codes for all the modeling to be done in R studio.
