Tenses: Tense means ‘time’

Types of Tenses:-

  • There are ‘3’ types of tenses based on time.
  • Tenses are divided in to ‘3’ types.
  • Present Tense.
  • Past Tense.
  • Future Tense.

Each ‘Tense’ is sub divided in to ‘4’ types.

Present Tense:
Simple present tense: sub+v1(s/es)+obj.

                                Ex: I work as doctor.                                      

Present continuous tense: sub+Is/Am/Are+V4+obj

                    Ex: I am working as doctor.

Present perfect tense: sub+Has/Have +V3 +obj

                       Ex: I have worked as doctor.

Present perfect continuous tense: sub+Has been/Have been+V4+obj

              Ex: I have been working as doctor.

Past Tense:
1) Simple past tense: sub+V2+obj.
                          Ex: I worked as doctor

2)Past continuous: sub+was/were+V4 +obj.    

                         Ex: I was working as doctor.

3)Past perfect: sub+Had+v3 +obj.     

           Ex: I had worked as doctor.

4)Past perfect continuous: sub+Had been/+V4+obj.

                         Ex:I had been working as doctor.

Future Tense:

1)Future simple tense: sub+will/Shall+v1+obj.

                              Ex: I will work as doctor.

                                           (or)

                                   I shall work as doctor.

2)Future continuous tense: sub+will be/ shall be+v4 obj.                      

                                  Ex:I will be working as doctor.                         

3)Future perfect tense: sub+will have/ shall have+V3 obj.                                        

                   Ex: I will have worked as doctor.

 4)Future perfect continuous tense: sub+will have been/shall have been+V4                    

      Ex: I will have been working as doctor.
