ABSORPTION ADSORPTION
1. Absorption is the process in which a fluid is dissolved by a liquid or a solid (absorbent), where the liquid molecule being absorbed. 1. Irrespective of states of atom it's being adsorbed in the surface of adsorbent.                                                                      
2. It's involved in large quantity (bulk phenomena). 2. It's a surface phenomena.
3. It requires energy for this process (Endothermic). 3. It releases energy during this process (Exothermic).

4. It's independent of Temperature. So rate of reaction is uniform through out the process.

4. Low temperature favors means increases the rate of adsorption

And we know a atom can share maximum of 4e^ for either to achieve nearest noble gas configuration. As we know [Xe] 4f1 5d1 6s2 is the electronic configuration of Ce. It loses all it's valance electron (i.e defined as oxidation state of an individual atom) to acquire nearest noble gas configuration i.e Xe.
