Unlike other teachers he does not see the student as a mere passive monotonous receptor of information, but rather a person who can be actively involved in interactive and dynamic discussion on topics which are otherwise difficult to explain one to one. He once taught me how to understand arithmetic progression.It is like this if a series is 6,10,14,18,22,26,30,34,38,42 and we have to sum it. We can do it as follows :- 6+42=10+38=14+34=18+30=22+26(Adding first and last terms in sequence)=48 No. of pairs=5 Sum=48 X 5= 240 Likewise he derived a two step formula for arithmetic progression:- First term= a Last term= a+(n-1)d (d= difference between two terms) Their sum=2a+(n-1)d No. of pairs = n/2 Total sum=n/2 x (2a+(n-1)d) Like this many difficult concepts in maths and physics like coordinate geometry,differential and integral calculus,laws of motion has been explained in a very nice and lucid manner.I am very thankfull to him for teaching me.
