Avartan means repetition
When a group of beats is repeated many times then each repetition is called as "Avartan", so it is clear that time between each Avartan is exactly the same because the time between each beat is the same. It is also can be described as one full cycle of any Talam from the first beat to the first beat again, it is called Avartana. Starts from Sama and end at Sama.
