In this 1-hour workshop on simplification for Class 6 students, we will focus on mastering two key areas that is basic simplification and simplification with brackets.
First, we will cover normal simplification, which involves following the order of operations for solving mathematical expressions. Students will learn the BODMAS rule, which stands for Brackets, Orders (powers and roots), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction, to approach problems step by step. We will work on simple numerical expressions to build their confidence.
Next, we’ll introduce brackets in simplification (parentheses, curly braces, and square brackets) and their role in organizing calculations. Students will practice solving expressions with multiple types of brackets using the correct order to simplify complex problems.
By the end of the workshop, students will have a clear understanding of how to simplify expressions both with and without brackets, ensuring they are equipped to tackle such problems in their exams and daily math work.
