Who is this class for?
This class is designed for children with emotional and social development challenges, including those with autism, ADHD, and other special needs, as well as their parents. It is ideal for families looking to strengthen their bond while working on emotional expression, communication, and social skills through music-based activities.
What will students learn in this class?
This interactive music therapy class focuses on using rhythm, melody, and vocal exercises to foster emotional expression, social interaction, and self-regulation, all without the need for instruments. Both children and parents will actively participate in:
- Emotional Expression: Through vocalizations, simple songs, and rhythm games, children will learn to express their emotions and recognize feelings in others. Parents will learn how to guide their children in emotional expression through sound and movement.
- Social Interaction: Group singing, call-and-response songs, and rhythmic activities will help improve turn-taking, cooperation, and active listening. Parents and children will work together to strengthen their social bonds.
- Self-Regulation: Simple breathing exercises integrated into songs and rhythmic patterns will help children manage emotions such as anxiety or frustration. Parents will learn how to incorporate these calming techniques at home.
- Family Bonding: Shared musical experiences will encourage family participation, enhance communication, and promote positive emotional connections between parents and children.
