Course Overview
Grade 5 students will embark on an exciting adventure into the world of matter. This short course will teach them the three main states of matter—solid, liquid, and gas—and their properties through interactive lessons, rhymes, and fun mnemonics.

Lesson 1: What’s the Matter with Matter?
Objective: Understand what matter is and why it's everywhere.
Activity: Show and tell! Each student brings an item to class and describes whether it’s a solid, liquid, or gas.
Rhyme: Matter is anything, big or small,
It fills up space, it does it all.
Solid, liquid, and gas, you see,
Matter is everything, just like me!

Lesson 2: Solid, Liquid, and Gas Parade
Objective: Learn the properties of solids, liquids, and gases.

Gases are wild, they like to zoom,
Spread everywhere, they fill a room!

Lesson 3: Matter in Action
Objective: Explore how matter changes state (melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation).
Activity: Perform a simple experiment (e.g., melting ice, boiling water, capturing condensation).

Heat me up, I’ll melt away,
Freeze me cold, and I will stay.
Boil me up, I’ll start to steam,
Cool me down—it’s a condensation dream!

"Hot Fish Swim Cool"

Lesson 4: Quiz and Fun Recap
Objective: Reinforce what students have learned with a quiz and fun games.
Activity: “Matter Match!” Match descriptions to states of matter, and sing rhymes in teams.
Course Project
Students create a “Matter Booklet”:

Draw a solid, liquid, and gas.
Write their properties.
Add the rhymes and mnemonics they learned.
