This course will introduce the students to the book as a work of art. We will look at examples of accordion-shaped books and create them. Developing the paper as a 2 dimensional surface we will experiment with the folds of the paper to expand the possibilities to create. The course will encourage the students to go ahead with the possibilities of creating on a flat surface.
Students will be free to develop their own design of the the folded book. This could mean that the structure of the book could be unusual and not as we usually see it. It will also enable new ways of reading and looking at the book. How to read a book ? Can we view a book just like we view a work of art ?
These are important questions to be addressed as within the contemporary art scenario.
