Today I'll be discussing with you the basic but a very important topic, i.e., CELL. 

INTRODUCTION-  Every living being, let it be plants, animals or humans, we are all made up of a single or multiple cells. Cell is the smallest unit of life. 

Cell- tissue- organ- organ system- organism 

DEFINITION- Cell is defined as the smallest, basic unit of life that is responsible for all the life processes.

It is the building block of every living organism and is also called the structural and fundamental unit of life. The study of cell from its basic structure to the functions of every living cell organelle is called cell biology.

ABOUT- Robert Hooke was the first biologist who discovered cells. Cells are complex and our body is made up cells of different shapes and sizes. The cell theory was proposed by German scientists- Theodor Schwann, Matthias Schleiden and Rudolf Virchow.

CELL STRUCTURE - A cell has many components that Include- cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm and cell organelles. 

TYPES OF CELL- 

1.) Prokaryotic cells- They are the single-celled organism. They have no nucleus. Their genetic material can either be DNA OR RNA. Eg- bacteria, archaea.

2.) Eukaryotic cells- They are the multicellular organism. They have true nucleus. Eg- plants, fungi, animals.

FUNCTIONS OF CELL- 

* Provides support and structure 

*Facilitate growth mitosis 

* Allow transport of substances 

* Energy production 

* Aids in reproduction.
