CAREER CRAFTING
Objective:
To enable students discover and carve a career that is suited and aligned to their innate potentials and preferences.
Steps:
Career Crafting is an individualized offering which is carried out through one-on-one engagements in three steps:
- Potential mapping – 2 hours
- Career discovery and – 1 hour
- Road mapping – 1 hour
Potential Mapping
Using story-telling and Appreciative Inquiry, students are facilitated to uncover and cull out recurring themes which, through their lives, have consistently been instrumental in creating peak experiences of joy and meaningfulness. The recurring themes culled out would be pointing towards the purpose of life that’s been guiding the student, the core values that have been practiced and some innate abilities and talents (life-giving-forces) that have been demonstrated.
These innate signifiers that come together to constitute the unique DNA of the student are then mapped in what is called a Potential Map to help the student cognitively uphold and acknowledge them as key drivers of her professional life. |
Career Discovery
The student is presented a short list of preferred career options and roles which are aligned to her potential map. Against each option is indicated a set of preferred potentials and preferences – talents and values. Keeping in mind her Potential Map the student makes a choice of potential-centric career she would like to pursue. She is guided to envision a certain level that she would intend to achieve in her chosen career option, within a given time frame.
Road Map
The student is guided to walk-backwards from the envisioned career option in the preferred future to her current reality. Along the ways she sets quarterly / half yearly milestones, defining for each milestone a measure of success and the knowledge and skills required to achieve the milestone. |
