Sanchit has been playing the guitar for over 25 years now. He is an ex-petroleum engineer, and an entrepreneur. He holds a B.Tech from IIT-Dhanbad, and MS from the University of Tulsa (USA) in Engineering. He (almost!) has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Tulsa (USA).

Sanchit grew up in a small town near Kota, in Rajasthan. He first held the guitar in his hands when he was 11 years old and fell in love with the instrument. He took lessons with his local teacher (Selson Samuel) who taught him not just how to play the guitar but also instilled in him a lifelong passion to learn and love music, and more importantly to be a good human being. Whilst a kid, Sanchit played guitar in his school’s annual functions, prayer meets, various cultural festivals in the town and even in local weddings as the only child member of the only orchestra in town!

After graduating from high school and joining college at IIT Dhanbad, Sanchit could be found playing guitar in cultural festivals and various other musical program held at the university from time to time. Sanchit formed his first rock band with his college friends in 2007 and performed in the techno-cultural festival, Srijan, of IIT (ISM)- Dhanbad.

Sanchit rediscovered his passion for learning and to keep improving on Guitar when he moved to the USA to pursue his master’s degree in Engineering. He joined a local guitar teacher in Tulsa, Oklahoma named Dick Gordon Junior. Sanchit took guitar lessons from Dick for about 4 years and learnt the ins and outs of western music theory and blues guitar. After completing his master’s degree in engineering, Sanchit decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Tulsa, and studied music with the eminent professors of the music department of the university. Some of the important courses that Sanchit studied were: Tonal Harmony, Jazz Harmony, World Music, 16th Century Counterpoint, Atonal Music and Audio Recording Techniques.

Sanchit considers music to be divine, meditative, and transformational. He believes that learning music has the ability to transform lives by teaching us the value of dedication, discipline and perseverance. He sees the Guitar not just as a musical instrument, but a tool to build character and foster personal development.

Sanchit offers guitar classes to share his knowledge, and experience in music. His experience of learning the western music and guitar in the USA (the land of blues, rock n roll and Jazz) can contribute to a greater understanding and appreciation of our own Indian Music and can inspire the students towards the fusion of the two greatest traditions of music.
