Hello! I am Soumi Das, a dedicated and passionate tabla instructor with over 10 years of experience in teaching and performing. My journey with the tabla began at a young age, inspired by my parents and guru and the mesmerizing rhythms and rich cultural heritage of Indian classical music.
I have been fortunate to train under the guidance of the esteemed tabla maestro Pandit Swaraj Bhattacharya and my father Swapan Das, they have instilled in me a deep understanding and appreciation of this beautiful art form. I hold a certification from Chandīgarh, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of tabla playing. In addition to my musical training, I am currently pursuing an English Honors degree at Calcutta University. This academic pursuit has enhanced my communication skills and enriched my ability to convey complex musical concepts in an accessible manner.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of performing at various prestigious events and festivals, showcasing my skills and sharing the stage with renowned artists. Some notable performances include: Jhankriti, pratibha anweshan, pracheen kala kendra, tridhara, route to routes, and I also perform many places such as Delhi, bengaluru, jhankhand, etc. These experiences have not only honed my playing skills but also enriched my understanding of diverse musical traditions and styles.
For the past 10 years, I have been passionately teaching tabla to students of all ages and skill levels.
