No it's not hard , its all about the mindset . Anything new will be hard only if you make it so. Music is one new things you will ever try in your life , it will persistently require patience , Consistency and lot of hard work. So go for it just like life you will learn new things and keep exploring.

It's not difficult, the answer to it that why you think so is that you are not used to feeling the pulse, the tempo on which you are playing. Playing the guitar will come easily when you keep repeating, without judging yourself. So one approach is to practise with a metronome. Standard 60 BPM. Count 1,2, 3,4 . All downstrokes. So now do with your right hand all downstrokes at 1,2,3,4. Don't motivate yourself to play a song which is at the desired tempo; probably fast may be slow. Your body needs to feel the tempo, the pulse, that were all quarter note where 1,2,3,4 lies. Keep on repeating; you will be able to do it.
