The NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 4 deals with simple equations. This Chapter is a continuation of Class 6 Algebra. This Chapter helps you to learn to solve problems on Simple Equations. You can learn the formation of Simple Equations and find the value of an unknown variable. Simple Equations are small equations which are simple to solve and help you to use in practical situations. In this chapter, you will also learn to find unknown variables.
4.1 Introduction
4.2 Setting Up of An Equation
4.3 Review of What We Know
4.4 What Equation Is?
4.5 From Solution to Equation
4.6 Application of Simple Equations To Practical Situations
Section 4.2 – In this section, you can learn a simple mind-reading game, which is not a magic but just a trick by using Simple Equations. You can find the values of the unknown variable by forming Simple Equations. This section deals with the basic linear equations formed with the help of unknown variables and constants linking them. You can also learn to frame Simple Equations, which can be useful in solving problems related to finding unknown value in any situation.
Section 4.3 – This section is a brief discussion on what you have already learnt about Equations. It has topics such as variables, fixed constants and conditions. It helps one to recall the concepts studied in the earlier classes. In this, one can learn the formation of equations from simple variables.
Section 4.4 – This section deals with the meaning and introduction of Equation. There is always an equality sign in an equation. The equality sign expresses that the Left Hand Side (LHS) is equal to the Right Hand Side (RHS). This section will help you solve Simple Equations. The two sides LHS and RHS represent the equality and one side has a numerical value, which can be solved to find the value of the unknown variable on the other side of the equation.
NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 4 Simple Equations is a very simple yet important chapter. These equations form the basis for solving complex equations in the subsequent classes. Studying this chapter well will help you to understand the complex equations better. The foundation of equations needs to be strong enough to go deeper into this concept.
Section 4.5 – This section deals with more equations. In this section, you can learn about transposing a number from one side of the equation to another. Transposing a number is same as adding or subtracting a number from both sides. By doing so, the sign of the number is changed. In this section, one learns the rules of transposing a number in the equation and the complete process of solving the equation.
Section 4.6 – This section is slightly different as it teaches the process of solving an equation in the reverse order. You can learn to form an equation from a given number. In this section, the process of framing a suitable equation can be learnt. You can also learn to follow the same process in a reverse path to derive an equation out of a solution already given. This makes you more confident in solving any kind of problems related to simple equations. It also makes the concept clearer by using the reverse technique.
Section 4.7 – This section deals with the application of simple equations to practical situations. In this section, you will learn to apply the simple equations in practical situations like finding the ages by using related known variables, distance, speed and so on. You can also learn to use the simple equations in day to day situations to find any unknown variable.
