The NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 5 deals with Lines and Angles. This chapter is an extension of lines and angles already studied in the earlier classes. You will learn about the different types of lines & angles and their respective properties. You will also learn the basics of geometry, which will be useful in subsequent years to further learn more complex angles. This Chapter provides an overview of lines and the connections of lines, which form angles.
5.1 Introduction
5.2 Related Angles
5.3 Pairs of Lines
5.4 Checking for Parallel Lines
Section 5.2 – This section deals with related angles. Angles are formed when lines or line segments meet. These angles are of different types and are based on the lines and segments. This section covers topics such as Complementary angles, Adjacent Angles, Linear Pair and Vertically Opposite Angles. These angles are related to each other in different ways. This section helps you to learn the connections of these related angles and solve problems related to these angles.
Section 5.3 – This section deals with pairs of lines. These lines are interrelated. In this section, you will learn about intersecting lines, transversal, angles made by a transversal and transversal of parallel lines. It helps one to learn about the different aspects of lines. Whenever lines meet and intersect, there are angles formed. This section deals with parallel lines and the angles formed by the intersection of parallel lines. You will learn the pairs of lines that are basics in geometry.
NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 5 is a basic introduction on the lines and angles and the relation between these. This chapter helps you to learn the basic geometrical concepts of lines and angles. This will be used in future classes to learn advanced geometrical concepts. It helps you to understand the concepts better and to solve problems on lines and angles.
Section 5.4 – This section deals with checking for parallel lines. In this section, you will learn the concept of verifying if two lines are parallel or not. Two lines given may or may not be parallel, you will learn to check the equality of pairs of corresponding angles, which proves that the two lines are parallel to each other. It introduces the concept of a transversal cutting the two lines and forming corresponding angles, which helps you to confirm that the lines are parallel.
