The NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 7 deals with Congruence of Triangles. The relation of two objects being congruent is called congruence. In this chapter, you will learn about the conditions of Congruency of Triangles. This chapter deals with different conditions to prove how two triangles are congruent. It helps you learn about the concept of Congruence better with practical examples and exercises.
7.1 Introduction
7.2 Congruence of Plane Figures
7.3 Congruence Among Line Segments
7.4 Congruence of Angles
7.5 Congruence of Triangles
7.6 Criteria for Congruence of Triangles
7.7 Congruence Among Right-Angled Triangles
7.8 Right-Angled Triangle and Pythagoras Property
Section 7.2 – This section deals with the congruence of plane figures. Congruence is the relation between two objects that, when placed one above the other, they will be the same. In this section, you will learn to decide the congruence of plane figures by the method of superposition.
Section 7.3 – This section deals with the congruence of line segments. In this section, it is confirmed by using the tracing and superposition method. You will learn that if two lines have the same length, they are congruent.
Section 7.4 – This section deals with the congruence of angles. You will learn how to conclude that two angles are congruent. In this section, you will also learn that if two angles have the same measure, they are congruent.
Section 7.5 – This section deals with the congruence of triangles. Two triangles are congruent if they are copies of each other and when superposed, they cover each other exactly. In this section, one learns about the congruence of triangles and how placing the triangle in the right way can establish its congruence.
NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 7 helps one to understand the concept of congruence by using practical examples. You will learn that congruence is not merely looking similar but being same. This chapter has examples which explain how the shapes can be called congruent. It deals with all the conditions that prove the congruence of triangles.
Section 7.6 – This section deals with the criteria to prove the congruence of triangles. You will learn about the different criteria like SSS Congruence Criterion, which states that if all three sides of a triangle are equal to the corresponding sides of another triangle, they are congruent. SAS Congruence Criterion is about two sides and the angle between them. You will also learn about ASA Congruence Criterion, which considers two angles and the included side of the triangle.
Section 7.7 – This section deals with the congruence of Right-Angled Triangle. In this section, you will learn that two right-angled triangles are congruent if the hypotenuse and a leg of one of the triangles are equal to the hypotenuse and the corresponding leg of the other triangle.
