Section 1.2 – In this section, you’ll study what ‘comparison of numbers’ means, how to compare numbers and identify them as larger or smaller. You will also learn international numeration; get to know how many more numbers you can make out of a group of numbers and also how many smaller numbers you can pen down out of one large number by way of changing the arrangement of numbers. This way you can find out the greatest and smallest numbers using the given digits.
Besides, you will also get to know how you can make multiple numbers by simply shifting digits from their respective place value to get a new number.
The formation and use of 10,000 and 1,00,000 will also be introduced to you in this section.
The Place Value System, which you have already studied in your previous classes will also be reviewed in this chapter. This will cover expansion of, three-digit, four0disit and other larger numbers to identify the place value of the respective numbers.
As you proceed further in section 1.2 of Class 6 Maths NCERT Solutions Chapter 1, you will also learn to construct, identify ready and write a large number such as 10,00,000; 1,00,00,000; 10,00,00,000 and so on.
Section 1.3 – In this section, you’ll acquire knowledge about ‘estimation of numbers’, what it means and how to draw estimations to the nearest tens, hundreds and thousands. You’ll also learn to pen-down a rounded-off-budget for yourself in situations like- If you visit a fair and wish to buy multiple things, you quickly need to decide what all you can buy based on the money you have brought to spend. For this, you need to plan out the approximate total amount you can afford on shopping by using addition, subtraction and multiplication in respective situations.
Section 1.4 – This section will teach you how to use brackets and where and why they are important. Use of brackets allows avoiding confusion in the problems sums where we need to carry out more than one number operation.
Section 1.5 – You already know what Roman numerals are. As the name suggests, Roman numbers use Roman alphabets to indicate numbers. In this section, you will learn why and where we use the Hindu-Arabic system of numerals and where it is important to use the Roman system of writing numbers.
