Nature of Popular Movements – In this section, you will study about various movements that took place in India such as the Chipko Movement (protest by villagers of Uttrakhand for forest conservation), party-based movements (nationalist movements, Kisan sabha, trade union movements, Naxalite movements) and non-party movements (movements by students and young activists having no intention to join the political party).

Anti-Arrack Movement – In this section, you’ll study about the anti-arrack movement in Andhra Pradesh led by women protesting for the ban of alcohol in their neighbourhood. You’ll learn the nature of this movement, women fighting the battle against alcohol, adult literacy drive on a large scale, alcohol leading to domestic violence. Narmada Bachao Andolan – In this section, you’ll study about the famous Narmada Bachao Andolan protesting against the construction of multi-purpose dams to save the Narmada River flowing in Central India.
