Chapter 12 - Areas Related to Circles

In the earlier chapters, you have studied different methods to find areas and perimeters of squares, circles, rectangles, triangles and parallelograms. Since most of the objects that we use in day to day life come in a circular shape, learning to find the area and the perimeter of a circle is important.

In Chapter 12 – Areas Related to Circles, we begin the discussion with the area of circle and concepts of the perimeter to find ‘sector’ and ‘segment’ of the circle. The sector of a circle is defined as the portion of the circle/disc enclosed by an arc and two radii. When a chord of a circle, divides it into two regions, these are called ‘segments of a circle’.
