This is a rather emotionally sensitive story written by Vallikannan about a little girl named, Valli, who narrates about her first bus journey out of her village and into the outside world. The outside world is very charming for her as she tries to figure out the true mystery meaning of life and death concerning her solo adventure at a very young age where she pays for the bus and does everything else on her own. The story ends with her returning home in time so that no one gets to know of her little adventure outside the village.
Explanation:
Staring at the busy streets and observing the hustle-bustle going on over there, is what Valli passed her time doing. Valli’s strongest desire was to travel to the next town on a bus, and the thing that gave her neverending joy was to see a different set of passengers every time the bus crossed a new village. Valli planned to get out of her village on a bus into the outside world and return so that her mother does not find out about her adventure. What annoyed Valli the most is if someone dared to call and treat her like a child, as she considered herself to be quite confident and well prepared. The bus conductor, on the other hand, was a jokester and started calling Valli as Madam, as she acted as though she was grown enough to take care of herself. What Valli meant was that her mother was ignorant about her ride on the bus to the town outside. She agreed to her mother’s statement without her mother knowing it.
