IdentitySimply a general one based on how I learned; read a textbook, any textbook, even one from decades ago. Get a compiler, try out the exercises. If you don't understand, get another textbook and read it. Read as many textbooks as you can, get a broad knowledge for C, then simply pose some problems for yourself to solve (or look on the internet for programming problems) and see if you can do it in C.
If you can't, try simpler problems. If you still can't, just mess around with the examples from the textbooks and change a few things here and there to get a feel for how things work. This approach may be a little time-intensive, but it will make sure you end up with a much better knowledge and ability of programming in C.
