Statistical sciences are essential tools to estimate unknowns in larger sized systems by using mathematical estimation methods on much smaller samples sizes. Statistics are important components of business modules as well as in practical applications of science. Theoretically, all biological samples exhibit variations and the distribution of variances determine the type of statistical applications that are required to express the data with accuracy or high confidence level.Hence, the statistical application needs to be decided prior to designing of the biological experiments. This workshop aims to make statistics understandable in the context for biology researchers to allow designing of a better experimental model and provide a better prediction of biological data.
The course explores theoretical and practical knowledge of the distribution of variances and methods used to study statistical predictions for larger samples parametric and non-parametric tests like Students T-test, Annova, Chi -square test, maximum likelihood tests, multiple multiple hypothesis testing. It aims to develop the capacity to perform independent statistical analysis in the participants to help in data representation and publication in scientific journals.
The Course will be held within EcoLite Lab premises and invovles 5 days of intensive hands-on experience with theoretical sessions. All participants will be provided by all necessary materials for participating in the course including course notes, laptops for working, and notebooks. Lunch/tea coupons for four days is eligible with the package. Outstation candidates could request booking of a decent dormitory at the additional charges of Rs. 200-250/day.
