The English language did not originate in America; it originated in England. English belongs to the Germanic language family and developed over centuries through influences from various languages. One of the most significant changes occurred after the Norman Conquest of 1066, when French had a major impact on English vocabulary and structure. This blending of Germanic roots with French and Latin influences shaped the language into what we recognize as English today.
Explains a lot of pronunciation issues, right?
So how did America reach English? English was carried to America during the period of European exploration and colonization. It was the time when England was going on her voyages in search of exploring the world and discovering new places. And so once America was discovered and Colonised, a lot of English people arrived there. And with them came English.
There is such a difference between both the English, such that one is called American English because of the changes it underwent. Partly the differences are ones that naturally arises after years of different environment in which the two languages evolved and partly, it was a choice made by figures like Noah Webster who sought to create a distinct American identity through language
