What is B.Com?
Bachelor of Commerce, abbreviated as B.com is an undergraduate degree in commerce and it's related subjects. The degree is usually awarded in the Commonwealth nations like India, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa etc. and also in Philippines, Netherlands, Canada. The syllabus and curriculum revolve around subjects related to business, industry, etc. It aims to develop entrepreneurial, managerial, decision making and marketing skills. It also educates students who are brought into various business principles.
Bachelor of Commerce Subjects
Subjects taught usually include:- Banking and insurance - This subject explains how banks work and how both the surplus sector and the deficit sector are benefited. How the insurance policy works and what happens to the money and how money is multiplied.
- Taxation - This subject explains how the tax is calculated and how much you're entitled to pay and what sections can save you or get you in trouble.
- Auditing - (Scrutinization) Explains how you can get busted when your accounts are not right.
- Business law - In this subject, you learn laws that you must know before you start your company and also while your working to ensure you're not being fooled.
- Corporate accounting - In this subject, you will learn how the corporate world gets it's finance and manages it.
- Financial accounting and advanced accounting - This subject deals with recording and understanding how the small and big firms are maintained and benefitted.
- Business statistics - You will learn to make a summarised pictural representation in forms of diagrams and graphs.
- Cost and financial management- You will learn to calculate and manage your expenses and make the most efficient use of the resources you have.
- Business organisation and management - This includes necessary of the business world. The essential documents, rules, terms, types, requirements, environment and every little thing to start and run a business.
- Business economics - You will learn how the economy works and what the necessary knowledge required is being explained.
B.Com Job Opportunities
There are different career opportunities after the B.com graduation.1. Accountant - After the graduation, you can work as an accountant. Usually, most of the fresh commerce graduates look for a job as an accountant. An accountant is required in all kinds of companies to run their business and also to keep track of profit and loss of that company.
2. Tax Consultant - Work as a tax consultant in any firm and get some experience after your graduation. Later on, you can work independently from home and even start your own firm.
3. Human Resource - B.com graduates can work as an HR person. They can also do their Masters in Human Resource to work independently.
4. Banker - Many banks hire fresh commerce graduates So you can get a job in any bank by registering on their websites or by following the employment news.
5. BPO / KPO - Most of the Business Process Outsourcing and Knowledge Process Outsourcing require commerce graduates. You can work as a client serving executive, customer care executive or as a team leader. You have lots of opportunities in these outsourcing companies, and they also offer good pay.
6. Auditor - An auditor is the higher position after the accountant. As an auditor, your responsibility is to check the financial statement and accounting ledgers. You also have to work with several clients as well as travel.
7. Stock Broker - After graduation, take up a course in stock trading. Because Finance, Mathematics and the Economic subject will help you as a Stock Broker.
8. Lecturer - After Bachelors of commerce, if you can do a two-year course of Masters of Commerce (M.com), you can work as a commerce lecturer in many colleges or universities.
9. Export-Import Manager - All the companies that do export and import business need an Export-Import Assistant or Manager for documentation work and custom work.
