Not an easy question to answer. Depends on what is the right tune for you. In general if it sounds good then its good !!!! The best is to learn from a teacher about tuning. Also 'Research' is a good way to go about. Read articles about tuning, drummers and their choices they make for the styles they play.. Because tuning is completely personal and its good to know various techniques used by professionals. YouTube has numerous videos on tuning. There you ll come across lot of good sounding drum kits for comparison and you ll have your do's and don't in basic tuning and the step by step process.

If you are referring to brand or quality, there are quite a few reliable ones out there. ProMark, Vic Firth, Ahead etc are top notch comes in various ranges and sizes..Though if you looking for moderate price range Vater, Zildjian or NOVA are decent brands. If you referring to the size of the stick, then i suggest you get comfortable with various sizes, as it will come in handy for different 'styles' and 'settings' you come across. Normal Stick Sizes : 7,5,2 represents Small, Medium, Thick, respectively and sub categorized with A and B for Small and Big respectively. So thin to thick stick sizes will be as follows. 7A,7B,5A,5B,2A,2B. Though not all the brand will have the same scale for length and breadth..
