He had his early education in St. Xaviers School, Kathmandu, Nepal. after his graduation in Physics (Hons) from St. Joseph's College , Darjeeling, he did his post Graduation in Physics from University of Calcutta and wrote many research papers afterwards. Later he obtained his B.Ed degree from Annamalai University. He had been a residential student throughout. Agter his brief stint in Sarabhai and Glaxo company as Medical representative and Area Manager, he switched over to teaching in the year 1986. He worked as Head of Physics Deoartment and the housemaster in a residential school in Mussorrie. It was in 1991 when he landed at the Lawrence School, Sanawar - a premier IPSC school and the member of Round Square Conference of Schools (UK). He performed as Physics Master and Sr Housemaster. He was odd among the exceptional school teacher to have innovated weather meterology club, Amateur Dramatic Society, Expression Club and brought the school an honour being first in the country to own a Nuclear Physics Club. He contributed in various exchange programmes. He is a frank, versatile and a well travelled individual. He has been in the assignment of Principal since the year 2004. He bears a keen interest in in English Literature. His first book of English Poems "Image of My Experiences' was published in the year 1998 and the second book of short stories ' Glimpses' is in the line. He is also engaged in writing textbooks for Physics. Series of NCERT science book for classes 6th, 7th and 8th are published by Landmark Publications from the session 2010 onwards. He was awarded with 'Shiksha Rattan Award" and Rashtriya Gaurav Award" for the year 2007.
Sri Lal is fond of rafting, mountaneering, rope climbing, badminton, cycling and tennis. He takes interest in flying. Human relation to restore value system and ethics - seem to be his motive.
