How to read preliminary book for ias

Read thoroughly and revise as much as possible. In addition to this keep in mind that the syllabus shall be completed in fragments. Plus join test series for practice.

Punishment will not work for a teenager to get to study. You will have to adopt a proper strategy to make him/ her study.

Can one prepare for SSC CGL tier 1 in a month?

No you can't. You have to prepare for at least six months with regular study and practice.
