Basically there are so many differences between these 2 terms. Both are related fields within the realm of home and space aesthetics, but they involve different aspects of the design process and serve distinct purposes. Here are the key differences between interior design and interior decorating: Interior Designing requires comprehensive planning and project management, creativity and concept development, formal education on interior designing, some technical knowledge like Architectural knowledge, CAD skills, 3D making skills etc. while Interior Decoration is to play with ready made objects and materials which needs aesthetic enhancements, some technical skill like use of software for visual presentation. In short, Interior Designing encompasses a broader range of responsibilities along with complex skills, while Interior Decoration is more focused on enhancing aesthetics through the selection and arrangement of furnishings and decorative elements. read less

There are various STYLES of Interior design with different styles and approaches, each with its unique characteristics and aesthetics. We can describe some of the common types of interior design styles as follows: A. Traditional Interior Design which is and remains classic and timeless, with ornate details, rich colors, and luxurious materials, detailed woodwork and furniture with intricate designs.B. Modern interior design using clean lines, minimalism, open spaces, neutral color palettes, and a focus on functionality. Use of innovative and new materials along with glass, metal, fabrics concrete etc.C. Contemporary interior design with current design trends, combination of elements from different styles, and a sense of simplicity. Use of neutral base colours with pops of bold colors.D. In my opinion, there are no pros and cons—what truly matters is your passion for this field. In the beginning, you might earn less compared to other fields, but you can earn through freelancing, and eventually, after gaining some experience, you can open your own firm and become its owner.

Hi Sanjeevani,

Firts, remember that there are limit-less sources of inspiration to become a successful Interior Designer. We should be able to get something useful from around us, which we can transform into our design options, like randomness from nature. Sometimes randomness might be more beautiful than symmetry. We can take inspiration for variety of colours and shades from nature. We might dislike some furniture in terms of shape or colour, so it can be our inspiration for how we can make it more beautiful that it is. We are using furniture and furnished spaces in our own house, office and outside, and by using and observing those spaces, we realize that there are some thing which looks ok or good or best and something might be better if we get chance to re-design it. So, these are Inspirations. Just keep eyes open while spepping out of  our home and keep noticing good things out of them. We can also refer books and photographs of Interior Design projects of other Architects and Interior Designers and keeps aside as reference for our future works. Please also note that we should not simply COPY good things, but we should think about still how we can use those designs more beautifully with our own added strokes.

Good luck.

Architecture and interior design have a profound impact on human emotions, influencing how individuals feel and experience the spaces they inhabit. The design of built environments can evoke a range of emotions, and various elements play a role in shaping these emotional responses. Here are ways in which architecture and interior design impact emotion : (a) Layout: Spatial layout of a building can influence feelings of openness, freedom, or containment. Large, open spaces may evoke a sense of expansiveness, while enclosed spaces can provide a sense of security and coziness. (b) Colours and shades: Warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows) can evoke feelings of warmth, energy, and comfort, while cool colors (blues, greens) may create a calm and serene atmosphere. Neutral colors can provide a sense of balance and sophistication, contributing to a timeless and versatile aesthetic. (c) Materials and Txtures : Soft and natural materials, such as wood or fabrics, can create a tactile and comforting environment. Varied textures can add interest and sensory richness, impacting the perceived comfort and warmth of a space. (d) Lighting : Adequate natural light can enhance mood, create a positive atmosphere, and contribute to a sense of well-being. Carefully designed artificial lighting can set the tone and ambiance of a space, influencing emotions. Other than these, furniture layout, form and shapes, acoustical materials also impact on human emotions. read less

First is "Interior Design : Principles and Practice", which is written by M. Pratap Rao. Another book you can read is "Design the Home you

love - An Interior DEsign Book" written by Lee Mayer and Emily MOtayed. There might be some other books on the subject, but you should also read "Time Saver Standards for Interior Design" which is well known book to learn standard practice parameters on Interior Design. But let me know, other than reading books and other referenced, best way is to visit near by sites where Interior Design works are going on and observing practical furniture making process will be more effective than reading alone.
