Kathak is not hard but it requires practice whereas Bharatnatyam is little bit slow than kathak. The rhythm, style of both dances are different.

Both the dance forms are extremely graceful, both are too different and unique in their own way. Kathak has more freedom of movements than Bharatnatyam. Bharatnatyam is quite rigid. Kathak is mainly based on footwork with the percussion(tabla), whereas Bharatnatyam is based on hip movements.

A possible disadvantage of learning Kathak could be the time commitment required to master its complex techniques. It may also be physically demanding and require consistent practice, which can be challenging for some.

For Kathak practice, a high-quality tabla would be a Bina or M.S. brand, known for its rich sound. For tanpura, a Santoor or Surbahar tanpura is ideal for its steady pitch. Both should be durable and well-tuned for clarity.
