Is and are are both forms of the verb be. Is is the third person singular present tense form. Are is the present tense form used with the second person singular and all plurals. The subject of a sentence determines whether is or are should be used.

Verb phrase. As phrasal verbs (as defined above) contain more than one word and represent a single verb or action, they are also verb phrases. So in summary, all phrasal verbs are verb phrases, but not all verb phrases are phrasal verbs!

Other verbs require the suffix "-ment" to be converted to nouns. For example, "appoint,", "assign," and "enjoy" can become "appointment," "assignment", and "enjoyment."

They are usually placed before the main verb but after auxiliary verbs (such as be, have, may, & must). The only exception is when the main verb is "to be", in which case the adverb goes after the main verb
