Pre-primary or nursery classes provide education and childcare facility for children between three and five years old, but there are cases wherein children are enrolled from the age of two and a half. In Nursery class, a child is engaged in school activities such as reading, writing, counting among other fun-filled exercises and children are encouraged to develop learning skills.

When do children enrol in Nursery schools?

It depends on how mentally and physically prepared the kids are to adapt to the environment of a nursery school. It also helps them to adjust in a structured educational environment and interact with other children and adults. Age limit for admission for nursery classes is 2 years 6 months to 3 years 6 months.

About Kindergarten school

The term kindergarten is derived from a German word which translates to 'garden for the children'. Kindergarten is a preschool educational program that incorporates playing, singing and practical activities. Kindergarten program was initially created in the late 18th century in Bavaria and Strasbourg to serve children whose parents both worked outside the home. Today, this approach is followed in many countries to incorporate learning spaces for children ranging from two to seven years of age.

Importance of Nursery rhymes

Nursery rhymes, also known as Mother Goose rhymes, can be broadly defined as short songs and verses often read or sung to, or by, young children. Many familiar nursery rhymes are centuries old and originated as part of a long oral tradition. Nursery rhymes are used as an aid in child's development. Research also supports the notion that music and rhyme help in spatial reasoning and develops cognitive skills in children. Nursery rhymes are fun and interactive especially when actions are linked to words, it helps boost motor skills and improves rhythm and movement. Kids in their early years undergo severe changes, and its crucial that they take the time and cope up at their own speed.
