I am a self taught artist, adept at flute playing. My hobby and excellent learning capacity became my assets and i got pretty apt at the art.

To clear the basics considering you practice around 40 minutes a day as a beginner, it will take you three months. Then to get your hand on some cover songs a decent 6 months. In around 9-12 months you can go on to ragas and advance melodies.

C sharp medium is gud to start witha as it is medium sized and sounds not too high not too low.

First step is blowing , then learn to play sa re ga ma pa dh ni sa. Third you can practice alankars. Start slowly then paly them fast. If you clear the alankars and gain practice half of the battle is won as many songs use alankars and raags use alot of them. Meanwhile start practicing higher pitches.... ...more

The high notes are played when speed of blowing is increased. The air that is blown in the flute goes faster. The amount of air is the same, just the speed . Also ,the hole is pressed closer to the lips .
