The Institute of Banking Personnel also known as IBPS conducts bank Clerical examination twice a year. This selection examination recruits well-qualified candidates for Clerical level jobs to nationalized banks of India. Some of IBPS participating banks are Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, United Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, IDBI Bank, Vijaya Bank, Central Bank of India, Punjab & Sind Bank, Corporation Bank, UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank and more.
IBPS clerical examination has two Tier - Preliminary Examination (Tier I) and Main Examination (Tier II).
Preliminary or Prelims Examination
- Bank Clerical is a Common Written Examination (CWE). The mode of preliminary examination is online, and it is a multiple choice question test.
- It has 3 papers: English Language (30 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (35 marks) and Reasoning Ability (35 marks) which sum up to 100 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 1 hour.
- It has negative marking pattern, 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
- Candidates need to qualify the (Prelims) sectional cut-off to appear in the Main examination.
Prelims Course and Syllabus
IBPS Prelims syllabus comprises of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.- English Language syllabus includes Reading Comprehension, Para jumbles, Error Spotting, Cloze Test, Fill in the blanks, Paragraph completion and Miscellaneous.
- Quantitative Aptitude syllabus includes Simplification, Profit & Loss, Mixtures & Alligations, Simple Interest & Compound interest & Surds & Indices, work & Time, Time & Distance, Mensuration - Cylinder, Cone, Sphere, Data interpretation, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Number Systems, Sequence & Series, Permutation and Combination & Probability.
- Reasoning Ability syllabus includes Logical Reasoning, Alphanumeric series, Ranking/Alphabet Test, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Tabulation, Seating Arrangement, Data Sufficiency, Puzzle, Syllogism, Input-Output and Coded Inequalities.
Main Examination
- IBPS Clerical Main examination is an objective type (Multiple choice question) tests.
- The Main examination has 4 papers: General Awareness (50 marks), General English (40 marks), Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (60 marks) and Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks), which sum up to overall 200 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 160 minutes.
- It has negative marking pattern, 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
Clerical Examination Eligibility Criteria
Every recruitment body has its own set of eligibility criteria so thus, the Institute of Banking Personnel. Therefore, candidates who�??�?�¢??re eyeing to appear in IBPS Clerical exam must understand the below criteria.- Candidates should be between 20 to 28 years.
- Age relaxation of 5 years for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), 3 years relaxation for Other Backward Class (OBC) as per the government norms and 10 years relaxation for Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
- Candidates should have a graduation degree from an institute recognized by the Government of India.
- Candidates should have computer knowledge.
- Candidates should be able to read, speak and write the official language of the state (should have verbal and written proficiency).
