He is a well known Traditional Reiki Master Teacher (highest level attainable in Reiki, equivalent to Grand Master) and is a registered medical practitioner with Indian Board of Alternate Medicine. Reiki Kendra founded and established by him in 1998, is one of the oldest Govt. registered "reiki training and treatment centre" in the country, where Reiki is practiced in its original form, located in Alipore in Kolkata - a prime location and easy to reach. Thousands of people have benefitted from learning Reiki here in its original form. Reiki Kendra's mission is to make Reiki available to people in its purest and traditional form and it has been organising training workshops in various parts of the country and abroad with Dr Amar Kumar as course conductor. In the last so many years Reiki has been introduced by him in places like Malda, Burdwan, Chandannagore, Durgapur, Chakdah, Binnaguri, Gwalior etc. Reiki workshops are also held in Mumbai, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Patna, Dhanbad, Asansol etc.
