Course Name: TOEFL TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. It is one of the most widely respected English-language tests in the world. TOEFL is administered online and called, TOEFL iBT (Internet Based Test). The test is of 4.5 hours duration and consists reading, listening, speaking and writing tasks. During the test, students will be expected to demonstrate their ability to combine all four skills. Structure: 1. Reading - 60 - 80 minutes, 36 - 56 questions, Read 3 or 4 passages from academic texts and answer questions. 2. Listening - 60 - 90 minutes, 34 - 51 questions, Listen to lectures, classroom discussions, and conversations, then answer questions. 3. Break - 10 minutes - - 4. Speaking - 20 minutes, 6 tasks, Express an opinion on a familiar topic; speak based on reading and listening tasks. 5. Writing - 50 minutes, 2 tasks, Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing. Each of the four TOEFL sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) are scored out of 30 points. Course Name: SAT SAT stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test. It is a standardized test to demonstrate a student's competitiveness and their likelihood to succeed in a course and is one of the factors that many universities and colleges consider when making their admission decisions alongside high school grades. SAT is classified into 2 categories; SAT that tests knowledge of high school level are reading, writing and math & SAT Subject Test that examines a student's proficiency in a particular subject matter. Structure: 1. Evidence-Based Reading - 65 Minutes, 52 Multiple Choice Questions 2. Evidence-Based Writing - 35 Minutes, 44 Multiple Choice Questions 3. Mathematics - 80 Minutes (25 Minutes section with No Calculator & 55 Minutes section with Calculator), 45 Multiple Choice Questions & 13 student-produced response 4. Essay (optional) - 50 Minutes, 1 Evidence Based Essay, Analysis based with range 6 - 24. Scoring: Sections of SAT (Math & Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) on a scale of 200-800 points totaling 1600 points. There is No Negative Marking. Key Points: 1. The critical reading section now does not ask for sentence completions. 2. There are only 4 answer choices per question in the New SAT test format. 3. Only a portion of questions focus on in-depth analysis of content and evidence 4. SAT is available in print and digitally 5. SAT Test can be taken 6 times in a year. PTE stands for Pearson Test of English. PTE Academic assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing all via computer in a single 3-hour test session. Students need to attend a secure Pearson test centre to take the test. During the 3 hours test session there will be three main parts to the test: Speaking-Writing (together), Listening and Reading. There are 20 different question formats, ranging from multiple choice to essay writing and interpreting information. PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic content. In the test, the student will hear excerpts from lectures in different accents, from British and American to non-native speakers and, view graphs and charts to answer questions. Structure: PART 1: SPEAKING & WRITING (77 – 93 minutes) 1. Personal Introduction 2. Read aloud 3. Repeat sentence 4. Describe image 5. Re-tell lecture 6. Answer short question 7. Course Name: TOEIC The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is "an English language test designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment." There are different forms of the exam: The TOEIC Listening & Reading Test consists of two equally graded tests of comprehension assessment activities totalling a possible 990 score; the newer TOEIC Speaking & Writing Test comprises tests of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, overall coherence, and structure (organization of sentences) totalling a possible 400 score. The Listening and Reading test is a paper and pencil test that takes 2.5 hours and is taken at a test centre. The Speaking and Writing test is an online test that is taken in a test centre and takes 90 minutes. The Speaking and Writing test is a new test which is only available in some countries.
