Debarsi Goswami

Hi, I’m Debarsi Goswami, a professional photographer and photography educator with over 8 years of teaching experience in various reputed colleges. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Photography from the International Institute of Photography, Kolkata, and I also have an academic background in Economics. My journey with the camera began much earlier, and I’ve been working as a professional photographer since 2013.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, gaining invaluable industry insight—not just into photography techniques, but also in handling clients, building portfolios, and earning through freelance projects. I don’t just teach photography—I teach the business and mindset behind it, sharing real-world knowledge and tricks of the trade that every aspiring photographer should know.

In recognition of my work, I’ve won a few international photography competitions, and I was a finalist in the Nikon Photo Contest in 2014, which remains a proud milestone in my career. These achievements helped me connect with a global photography community, keeping me inspired and continuously learning.

My classes are conducted online, with no age bar, and are best suited for small groups of 15–20 students, allowing me to maintain a personal and interactive environment. A typical class runs for 2 hours, though I allow flexibility depending on the topic. My lesson plans follow UGC guidelines, and I’ve designed my pedagogy based on my years of experience as a lecturer.

Classes are highly practical, and I make sure that even online sessions feel immersive and hands-on. I use a combination of PPTs, whiteboard tools, and curated YouTube content to explain concepts visually and effectively. I’m not an animator, but I make sure the visual learning component is strong.

At the moment, institutional certification is in process. Until then, I offer a basic certificate upon course completion, based on performance in an end-course evaluation. Students looking for the best books or resources on photography can always expect personalized recommendations from me.

What truly sets my classes apart is the organic flow and artistic depth. I integrate discussions on world cinema, visual storytelling, and the philosophy of art. I involve students by name, encourage their opinions, and make each session interactive and thought-provoking. My goal is to offer not just technical training, but also a deeper artistic understanding to everyone—from beginners to enthusiasts.
