I Dr. Amit Kaur hail from Kolkata. I have graduated in Geography from Shri Shikshayatan College, Kolkata and then pursued Masters in Geography from Presidency College, Kolkata. I also hold another Masters in Planning with specialization in Housing from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. I have completed my PhD in the domain of Housing and Community Planning from the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, IIT Kharagpur. My doctoral research topic was "Developing a Composite Satisfaction Index to evaluate Middle-Income Group Housing: Case study of Kolkata". I have published journal papers in the domain of housing and community planning in international journals and also presented my work in international conferences in India and abroad.

Prior to joining my PhD, I worked as an Academic Associate at CEPT University, Ahmedabad. I had been working as an Associate Professor at Dr D Y Patil School of Architecture, Pune and was involved in mentoring students at both under graduate and post graduate levels. Presently, I am working as an Assistant Professor at TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi and involved in training post graduate students.

My research interests include affordable housing, housing finance, real estate, quantitative methods in planning, urban and regional planning, urban studies, sustainable and smart communities.
