L shell is the second shell grom the nucleus which can have maximum 8 electron thus total we have 10.

The total number of electrons in a shell given by      2(n)²  where n = the number asigned to shell like K will be 1, L will be 2, M will be 3 etc

Eg Electrons for M shell 

n= 3

2(n)²

2(3)² = 18 electrons
